Dolores-Poison Apple/Slide the Knife 7"
Dolores, despite what you might expect of them from the name, plays noisey and troubled music, seeming to spring from a troubled personality. Sort of like a soundtrack to a nervous break down with spazztic bouts of hoarse screaming and harsh guitar. The amount of treble here (i'm not sure if that's even intentional) gives the music a sense of claustrophobia ,as do the bits of sound collage contaning backwards voices and various odd sounds. A very cathartic record, and I'd likely appreciate it more, if I had more pent up anger and angst I had to burn off. All in all, it's not bad. The band has their own sound, are tight, and certainly do have there moments. It's very well done, just not quite my cup of tea (but I'm VERY picky). Info: Renaissance Recordings/ P.O. Box 66146/
