Nectar- S/T ep CD
Out of L.A. comes the band Nectar, with a five song CD EP featuring a mood driven, flowing sound. They play melancholy, poppy songs over break-beat style drumming. This four piece, with their minimalistic songs, fills up sonic space with echoing guitars, hearty bass, and smooth female vocals. The more straight forward drumming is in good contrast to the spacey, sparce music. Judy Neubauer's (vocals and guitar) voice, mellow yet powerful and tinged with sadness and nostalgia, fits the mood perfectly, sounding always like she's longing for a lost love. Meanwhile, the fragile guitar lines of Ken Lee (guitar and keyboards) weave their way in and out of the songs, chiming and reverberating. The rythym section, Steve Karolus (bass) and Lorenzo Scott (drums), play tight and direct, keeping the music's feet on the ground while its head is in the clouds.
